What Happens When You Come Together?
Jesus' words were very simple in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." He did not say they had to be doing certain things in order for him to be in their midst, just gathered together in his name.
The Apostle Paul gave us a little insight into the nature of early church gatherings in I Cor. 14:26:
"How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification."
There are no boxes when it comes to an organic gathering. However, a few things are always evident. First, Jesus Christ is exalted in all that is done. Then secondly, others should be able to say 'Behold how they love one another'.
So you may see worship, sharing from God's Word, a meal together, prayer, communion...
Whatever happens, you can know that it will be about relationships. Relationship with God and with one another.
